I'm Lars.

By trade I'm a software engineer...I'm very interested in software development, software security and database security. I'm mostly self-taught, and I've dabbled in just about everything...enough that I can cause headaches in nearly any subject :D .

I'd be very interested to lend a hand where needed, get some advice for myself and--I guess this is the reason we're all really here--learn some cool new things.

So...that's me! Hopefully we'll be seeing each other on IRC and on the forum.

Hello Everyone!

I stumbled upon this site looking for tuts relating to security and networking. I left the US Air Force (retired!) this past July. Although my background is primarily administrative/clerical and personnel (or HR for you civilians), I did manage to get my feet wet dealing with computers.

I'm looking to gain as much knowledge as possible. I was pleasantly surprised to find a site of this nature that doesn't bash noobs!

Welcome,

First of all, not all of us here are Civs; one of us Administrators is in the Army, others were once upon a time, soldiers. Don't be too quick to judge, lots of diversity around here...We're tight knit with lots of share, as well as lots to learn, Jump on the boards and ask questions and help out where one can and you`ll fit right in.

Cheers,
Big-E

Thanks for the welcome. I wasn't judging or trying to talk down to anyone, so if came off the wrong way, I apologize in advance. I've been having to check myself during job interviews since the jargon keeps slipping out.

So far, I've found a lot of useful info and there's a lot of knowledge on this site.

Welcome aboard, i'm glad to see so many people coming here that are willing to learn! But as always, read the rules before posting.

Welcome to the community xtremeNoob and hope you find your stay a pleasant one. We are noob friendly here but we do have rules and we like them to be stuck to. As Gogetta said read the rules and you will do just fine. As Big-E also said we have a lot of people with different backgrounds here and from different cultures. This is a place where what ever happens is in the world, we all come together here and nothing else matters apart from technology and being who we are without being judged. Here we can all help each other, have some banter and hopefully learn something new along the way.

As a friendly word though, dont double post without good reason, edit the last post.

Enjoy your stay

Hello everyone! I've been lurking here for a while now and I've recently become more active around here so i figured it's time to introduce myself. My alias (obviously) is Fer0x which is latin for Fierce..it's also a cool spaceship in EVE online :D.

I'm still relatively new but I'm learning rather quickly. So far i just know bits and pieces about many different things like php or networking. I haven't really fully grasped any one thing yet but i intend to learn just about everything i can about computers and hacking in general. I even spend some time researching other things like nanotechnology and biological engineering. I kinda wanna be that mad scientist guy in the movies who makes sentient life forms in a lab and unleashes them on the unsuspecting populace .

The reason i got into hacking was simply because i find it fun! Getting past security and "borrowing" :-99 information is all so exciting. That and it's my own personal way of defying "The Man" as i have somewhat anarchistic beliefs. Even though a lawless society is an impossibility as it is human nature to form some kind of structure. But that's a rant for another time. And the most important reason for me getting into hacking is of course, Reven- i mean so i can get a job in computer security. :)

Now for the boring statistics.

Age: 19

Gender:Male

City: Wichita

State: Kansas

Country: United States

Occupation: Unemployed

Skills: Jack of all trades, Master of none...for now

Operating System: Windows XP Pro
(i had a ubuntu partition but it died somehow...working on fixing it.)

Sexual Orientation: Now why on earth would you want to know that!? This is the internet! What are you? Some kind of pervert stalker?

IP Address: 192.168.1.6

Hmm, i'm probably leaving stuff out but i can't think of anything else at the moment. Oh, i also do modeling for fun when I'm not cramming data into my brain so here's a picture of me being awesome 8)

Welcome Fer0x!
Nice introduction, seems that we have a lot in common ;) Maybe we could be partners in the future? Two mad scientists ruling the world, what do you say? ;) Of course first we need a lot to learn.
Jokes aside, I'm kinda new to this too, so maybe we could do some projects together? Nothing big, just to get to know stuff...
Anyways, welcome, enjoy your stay (which you I bet already are :D) and good luck in learning ;)
