b_b's bike thread

Post by bad_brain »

alrighty, here I will post stuff in context with biking that I find noteworthy, may it be cool bikes, parts, tricks, whatever. :)

I'm gonna start with a bike type I find really interesting...the so-called fatbikes. I am considering building one since a while already, and of course it would be based on a Salsa frame (because their frames simply rule, the bike I am riding now is also based on one). the reason why I find this one especially interesting is because it's the first fatbike with a carbon frame, yet it's just a prototype:

a really interesting and unique solution to combine breaks with the ability to do bar spins.
usually you either simply use a really long brake hose so it's long enough to wrap around a couple of times, or you simply use no brake at all....there have been solutions for that already, but all I am aware of only for hydraulic brake systems (like the "Trixxer" from Tr!ckstuff). but this one is using the old school cable system:

I was planning to get this one, but the problem with such neoprene masks is that they make it hard to breath:

wohoo! finally I got myself a hi-end rain jacket.... \:D/
it's a "Ultra Barrier WxB" from Pearl Izumi, 3.5 layers in the body and 2.5 layers in the arms which should make it very well breathable (which is the biggest problem with cheap rain jackets: water stays out, but sweat also stays in).
now I am almost hoping it will rain again soon so I can test it...

just checked, the jacket has a Ret of 3.68, which is pretty awesome:
