Hey guys, thanks for the comments.
I really have stuck with ruby and i really haven't had the study time i would have liked or the environment to study in. Its all been in my own time and for a while i was not putting the effort in, or maybe i wasn't finding the time. Which ever it was a couple of months ago i started putting 3 hours in on most days.
I started learning Ruby nearly 18 months ago but as some of you know, i went travelling for a few months and when i came back was going through a real bad time. I was so depressed i locked myself in a room for 6 weeks but it didnt help. I still couldn't think. I remember telling mabs i cant even remember how to code 'hello world' my head was that gone. Not sure if he believed me but it was true.
It was like everything i had learned i had forgot. Over the last 6 months i have put a lot of effort in and as you can see its paying off. I am really happy i have stuck with it and not give up. To some of the new members here i hope this brings encouragement to keep going at something they desire. At first they might not see any direction or how the desire of what they are learning all of a sudden comes together.
At times you feel like you aren't going anywhere and you feel there is no point in going on. I took Ruby knowing i was basically on my own here on the forum and asking for help was basically not much point and as this is my home then it was up to me to keep going.
Thanks for seeing why i haven't studied php Ebz, the reason to be different. I didn't want to try to do both at once and after considering both decided on ruby even though i know i would of had more help with php from other members. I suppose this is also the side of me that wants to push myself and always take the harder option if i see good things at the end of the tunnel. It was the same the first time i tried linux, i went straight for debian etch instead of using a more friendly distro like ubuntu, but now as things are becoming ever more simpler, i am happy of my choices.
b_b, it seems some projects often become personal and as you said after 2 days it often is. The reason we do this is because after 2 days work we realise how much time we have spent and if we can see the job through it becomes worth it, even if it costs more in time. If we leave a job unfinished then the time input becomes useless, void and a waste of energy. When completed we get many things but the biggest is self satisfaction
Thanks for the encouragement!
