hi guys i have a forum with the free forumotion but the feckers dont give you access to the database is there any way i can use some sort of software to copy the content over to my own new forum which im hosting myself its a vbulletin one? i know there is some software out there for phbb but not for vbulletin

if not will have to get everyone to re-register and start again :(

I am not too familiar with vbulletin, but isn't there a "database backup" option as shown here (method 1):

if you have access to the admin panel, there should be a DB dump option.

otherwise ask your host to make a copy.

forumotion dont offer database backups its a free hosting foum no access to the database

well....then you're sadly out of luck....this is one reason I don't like such free hosts, I had the same problem with customers already that hosted their blogs this way and wanted to move them to my server... :roll:

If you cannot get access to the DB, a place to backup the data or simply ask support for a .sql of your forum then ya your kind of shit out of luck, even if all boards are hosted in one forum they can export just yours, but i doubt thats the case, have you even asked yet?

if you cant get the data from the host, then your best bet is to rip your forum, have your members sign up with their same data...would take a lot of time if your forum is sizeable...

It IS possible to create a bot to scour the forums and create an SQL dump file, but i won't be the one to code that beastly code 8O

somebody needs to code that tho... that would be a big deal but imagine some of the uses you could go with...
