For a Newbie

Post by DrVirus »

Guys I've been reading tons of books and watching a lot of videos about lockpicking recently. And decided to gift myself a set of picks to start up with the practical practice. Nerdz and B_B were discussing about set of picks a few months back so I decided to ask you guys what will be the better set for me ??

The thing is I did some digging in the net but can't seem to find out whether they send their kit to other countries. Any idea ??

hey check some of the threads closer - you can MAKE lock picking tools.
I know these are highly restricted in USA, not even sure what the rules are in the other countries, but suspect they are just as bad.

I made the pick out of a dental tool, and the torsion bar out of a spring steel from another junk. thats all I needed to pick up to 5 tumblers. 7 gets very tough, so you want a kit to try raking etc.

Yeah I read that DNR. And also observed some video on making it. But some of the power tools that I have to procure and practice with are more expensive than the lockpick set man :D. And it aint USA that I can call up a store and rent the tools :D. Any other ideas ??

I bought my picks from northerntool.com

Also, look at this: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It teaches you a pretty good way to make lockpicks from really cheap materials.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

check out dental picks

The one on the left was modded with a nail file and was my favorite tool

File the point down to size, and square off the tip. If the diameter of the pick is too large - run the nail file down the sides to narrow it. With a file and some test fitting - you'll have a pick made in less than an hour.

The torsion bar was again, a simple peice of spring steel - again taken from salvage, I just had to bend it to be 'L' shaped - this without tools.

Improvise.
