NET SEND help any one use it ?

Has anyone ever used the NET SEND in a command window? I used this in college and it worked some 2 years ago. However now I cant use it. I wanted to use it at work to send other workers a massage.

I wanted to know all the facts here

{name : * : /DOMAIN[:name] : /USERS} message


What is name for and do I need the :
What is the * for and do I need the :/
Do I type /DOMAIN[-------]
What is name
Tell me how to properly net send please or give me some advice on this. Please not I want to use the command window and no other platform if possible. Also do I need to configure the NET ACCOUNT or something?

Most Admins disable netsend on the networks.

Try to look at Run -> services.msc -> Messenger and check whether it is disabled on your pc and if its enabled on you pc check on the pc you try to message.

I always thought the snytax was:

net send IP Message

But maybe I'm wrong.

Yes I looked in the services.msc and found it. Thanks a million now I won’t have to walk all the way to the other office to say “Hey man you got a call on line 1”. I appreciate this…

make sure to disable it again before accessing the internet, else you'll receive a lot of crappy spam messages... :wink:
