trace IP

Post by slanen »

Yeah, im a coplete n00b, so you dont have to tell me that.

Now the question. I have done some tracing on msn and found the remote computer IP is 207.46.x.x As i understand it this is MSN adresses, used by messenger to "hide" the user IP.

But how to find out what REAL adress hiding behind MSN?

that´s why we have a newbies-board...

hm,well, I don´t use MSN very often, so I don´t know about the way the connection is handled (p2p or via MSN server), but it seems to be the a MS IP. so this IP is completely useless unless you don´t crack the Microsoft server and get a grip on the connection logs...
but maybe a p2p-connection is established when files are transfered, like on most instant messaging applications. so you will have to check your connections by using netstat, initiate a file transfer and then check your connections again, if a new IP shows up that´s probably the one you´re looking for. best test it with a buddy first to see if it works...
