im tryna install unreal ircd but i cant get it to work

( im an irc noob

create a file named ircd.motd in the /etc folder of ircd-hybrid, the file can be empty. when done restart irc and/or use the /rehash command...should work then...

when i run that command it says

Permission Denied - You're not an IRC operator

what did i do wrong ?

you need to login as operator first with the data set in the operator-block in your config file:

Code: Select all

/oper nick password

and I highly recommend to set other passwords, now that everyone knows them from the config you posted...

thanx for all your help B_B now iv got the irc server to work.

But how do i make a channel that will stay there, Because when i disconnect all the changes that iv made get deleted

you need a bot to keep it alive I suppose.

yep, either a bot or running irc services like hybserv. but beware, the config for irc services is no picknick for a beginner...I remember having a hard time on the initial setup for suck-o...
