Safe way to practice hacking

Post by Still_Learning »

I have VMware setup and noticed the connections are bridged so it looks like each Virtual machine has its own IP via the router, i was wondering is it possible say that if i want to practice hacking a certain OS i can load that OS in VMware and goto my real OS and try to hack my own machine useing VMware? seems like the safest way to practice , if its possible, thanks

Yes it's possible =)

And I am VERY happy that you mentioned it, because usually people like to "practise" on domains that ends with 'mil' =)

awesome! no .mil practicing for me lol

so I could load win xp pro for my main OS then load win XP for my VMware OS and RDP to it with no problems?

currently I am loading the VMware OS from an .ISO image, if i want to add programs and files to my VMware OS do i have to rebuild the iso image? is there an easy way to do this?

Cats, you are awesome! thanks!

I haven't tried running from an iso to be honest, but the best way to find out is to try it yourself ^^
