Supposedly Uncrackable

I'm working with a few friends to develop both music and music development programs - and it's my job to make sure we get paid for it, so it's my job to find the best way of keeping our demos air tight.

So, I've been going through synth hosts to see if I could find one that couldn't be cracked easily (by a n00b like me) and I finally found one - Synapse's Orion Platinum demo, v6.20. There are no cracks for it online, the only way to "register" it is by purchasing it through the web site and from there I don't know how they activate it because there's no way of inserting a serial into the program itself, and on top of all that, the registry entry is in ucky binary.

Myself, I am not a programmer, at least, not anymore. I used to know a few things but they're long since forgotten - apparently, as all my attempts haven't worked =P So, a hand would be much appreciated. Thanks!

http://www.crackserver.com/search.php?q=Synapse

in a hacker/cracker mindset nothing is uncrackable or totally secure, there will always be someone to figure out somehow wether its today or someday

they probably have two different programs; one for trial, the other for full use. You'd have to find a download to their full version.

There is still a small problem with the links you've provided.

#1. I already checked there and they're serials, not cracks.

#2. They're for v5, not v6.20

Thanks though =)

The other issue is, I will be creating demo versions - I need to test the crackability of demo programs, and if Synapse has found a very difficult to crack way, I'd like to figure it out =)

That's the thing, security through obscurity is a good security, but not super reliable. I don't think you'll find much on their method of 'crack protection' on their programs.

also you have to figure in the copying and distrubution of the full version app, whats to stop someone from buying the original, and making it available to someone else?

cracking isnt the only thing to worry about, pirating is still a major flavor

That's the other part that I'm working on. Mostly I have to find the best ways and give them to our programmer (when we get one) so that they can implement them. I think with Synapse I might have found what I'm looking for though.

That is just a matter of time.

Security For Your Programs

Hey Maybe You Could Have The Programmers Do What Valve Did For Half-Life 2! 8) They Could Have A Security Code Hard Coded Into The Software. So They Have To Go Online And Validate The Code Against An Online Database To Use The Software. Then Put Something Into The Software That Prevents The CD From Being Copied! If They Use Your Software It Leaves Sothing You Can Use To Tell If It's A Legal Copy:idea: How's That Sound For Security!  Good Luck My Friend!

That's a great idea - thanks =)

still wont work...i had a pirated version of Half Life 2 about 2 weeks after it came out, you gotta remember that some of these crackers arent bored kids at home, they are professional programmers that are experts at this game...

mind you i was unable to get support for the game online, but i played it in full, start to finish with no probs

Hey No Problem Always Glad To Help Out A Friend In Need! :D And CircuitB0mB How The Hell Did You Pirate Half-Life 2?

ye i remeber that Valve thingy with half-life. I couldnt find the crack so i just another pirated copy in a week, that one was a retail version or smth so it didnt need an online registration. Proves the point: nothing is uncrackable

So the question remains - where's the weakness in Synapse Orion Platinum 6.2?

I don't want to recommend a method to our programmers that's easily worked around. My go-to-geeks are only good at mimicking code, not creating security on their own.

...and in case you're wondering, I got put in charge of this because I'm the one they always go to for free proggies. For some reason I'm the only one with enough intelligence to use a search engine =P

short of debugging/reverse engineering, I have no clue.

But let me remind you, everything as far as progs go, is only a matter of time (and effort).
If there is a need, someone is bored enough or someone has free time on their hands, it doesn't matter what you are running.

Whatever you decide, keep it updated.
