infraguardtampabay.org hack

Post by DNR »

info from FBI affidavit. this lays out a typical hacking behavior by inexperienced, unethical hacker newbies.

http://cryptome.org/0005/arciszewski/ar ... ki-001.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Note lack of protection used by the 'hacker' in this case and how it lead back to him.
The newbie attempted to publish exploits about a network, without permission from the network's owner - resulting in prosecution by the owner of the network.
The affidavit shows the path the FBI used to identify the 'hacker' - with only using publicly available information on the internet. Right down to matching his picture with his driver's license photo.

did the newbie do something ethical? Up to a point, his testing was one thing, but posting the exploit on a public forum so 15 others could use it - that got him the most trouble.This affidavit is a great, simple lesson of what NOT to do!
