Keylogger help

Post by fearofloathing »

Recently my child has been going to websites I do not approve of and I was wondering if any of you know of a good keylogger that will remotely e-mail me from his computer... I have a file binder and would love a way to do this where I can hide it inside a game install file... We both play pc games and when I download a good one I share it with him the latest one I shared with him was COD4. Im not one of those parents that freak at my child for looking at porn.. I have however cought him looking at child pornography and I fear that he may get in trouble.. He is fairly bad with computers and doesn't know how to hide his identity and is to A.D.D. for me to teach him. Any help would be nice.

Well if you have access to his computer why not install one of those commercial keylogers. Most AV's wont pick them up because emplyers like to use them to spy on there employees.
We will either find a way, or make one.

if not a commercial key logger perhaps there is a way to set the firewall to not pick up or delete the key logger that you install?

Hmm, this may take a little work, but if you want to, you can figure out each website he's visiting that you do not approve of, then edit the windows HOSTS file (located in some folder inside of C:\windows\system32), and have each website redirect to google.com or something.

Combining this method with a keylogger would be very effective, i imagine.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

Actually a better idea would be to install one of those parental controls on his computer. He might not like that but if you are his parent than you are doing only good.

Besides that a good talk with him should solve the problem. I do not like the idea of parents spying on there kids. With a keyloger on his computer you would also see his chats with friends.

I know that I had huge fights with my parents because they did not trust me and they were afraid I was using drugs or some thing. Were never had an honest talk about any thing. So all we did was fight. Those were the worst years of my life.

So I ask you why use some keyloger? Why can not you sit down with him and talk to him about what you find is wrong!? I think that would be a lot better. Because if one day your kid finds out you were spying on him he might never forgive you and you may ask your self if that is really what you want!
We will either find a way, or make one.

Or if you have a router, you can block domains, or use the firewall in the router to block the IP addresses of the site (much more effective then blocking sites domain names or "keywords"). And this way you don't have to be able to enter his computer, maybe to grab his browsing history but that's all.

Lyec has a point. I'm sure your kid WOULD forgive you in time, but spying on your kid unconditionally may become a cause for lack of trust and communication between you and him. I would suggest sitting and talking to him and maybe even inform him that you're going to monitor his activities for a little while because you want to make sure he's visiting the right places. To me, this shows that a parent is willing to trust their child, but they have to prove themselves first.

Just do what you think is best.

You might also tell your kid that the cops will come knocking on the door if he visits a K.P. honeypot - they will first look at you - the adult in the house. You could not only spend a day in jail, but get fired and publicly slandered.

If you are telling the truth (some people troll forums and try to get others to help commit hacker-by-proxy with some SOB story) you live in the household - you have physical access to his computer - then installing tools and configuring the box to hide it is easy. You talk about a file binder, so you seem to know enough to do this.
You not only have a moral obligation to stop access to K.P., but now a legal obligation since you are the adult.

I totally agree with this point of view and as pointed out there is other ways to monitor what is happening without having to take the situation overboard.

Why would it have to be binded if you have access to his pc?

We dont support ilegal activities as and i can see the next question...
How do I upload the file on a p2p program and gather ip's?

Just seems a bit too much and im sure if it was my son doing this a damn good kicking and the use of no computer would be my first solution.
Secondly i dont think you would be blurting it out all over the web if this is your son doing this. Someone elses flesh and blood no problem but when it comes to your own most people would walk the earth to protect their children and would do there upmost to eradicate the problem in a more determined way.

What you are saying is a very serious accusation and if i was in this situation I would think i would be seeking every option possible and not just waiting for this to happen again. After a good kicking it would be a serious bout of counciling. How old is this child of yours. Most children will not even know how to search for that kind of shit even more so as you stated here
He is fairly bad with computers and doesn't know how to hide his identity and is to A.D.D. for me to teach him. Any help would be nice.

Why would you want to teach anyone if you suspect them of this, more so as you say
Im not one of those parents that freak at my child for looking at porn.. I have however cought him looking at child pornography and I fear that he may get in trouble
I have had many people ask me about shit like this and myself for one would have no qualms what so ever of doing this to someone if there is evidence to do so and would gladly pass any info on to anyone in a position to do something something about it whether that be the authorities or the biggest bunch of doc martin wearing skinheads you have ever seen to go round and pay a freindly visit.

I for one would tell you now this is something if true you need to STOP now, not wait for it to happen again.

I have no more to say on the subject unless there is a more viable story

DNR and computathug are exactly right... this sounds like either
A) A lie to cover up your desire to get help attacking someones computer.
B) Bad parenting which will come back to bite you.

We're not going to help you keylog remotely. You either need physical access to the box or you need to go to a dark hacking website to have them help you figure out how to do it remotely (i.e. maliciously).

On "dark hacking websites" they don't help you, they're just less nice ^^
