One English hacker's POV on Chinese Hackers

Post by DNR »

I have been reading news and reports about Chinese hackers for awhile. I have created a profile of the Chinese Hacker.

Chinese hackers are different in a few ways from the traditional/american hacker. Many american hackers for example worked independently or with little assistance, while Chinese hackers tend to work as a group on the same project. Another difference was american hackers tried not to leave a trace of who did the attack, the Chinese hackers would post their screen name or even leave email addresses or cellphone numbers!

It was first believed the Chinese Government was directly controlling the computer attacks from Chinese soil. But there is a lot of evidence that points to Chinese hackers simply being allowed to get away with their quest for popularity amoung hacking groups. Some attacks CAN be from military/government order, they have the ability to pick the most active hacking clan on the chinese internet. It is just wrong to imply that all chinese hackers are pro-government, some are just doing hacks for popular points and may very well be open to good relationships across the border.

So far the relationships being built between chinese and american hackers is slow going, translation of tradition chinese (mandarin) is not reliable. Sharing text and tuts you'll frequently find many words improperly translated between english and chinese.

The Chinese hacker should be greeted warmly by its english peers, they are just like us. Their interest in the internet and their non-conformist thinking should be enough to be fair to them. This is not one government against another, as they want us to believe. They want us to believe we are enemies, because they know the power of united hackers.

Was this just another form of propaganda? Did they provide reports with proof this came from Chinese soil? or is this because China is now the biggest threat ? Would they have said Russia a few years ago? Maybe they don't know where the attacks came from although what they did say is also possible....Its just a thought!

Very true but for how long? China now teaches English all over the country and are employing teachers like there is a shortage of toilet roll  I was amazed when i went South East Asia just how even the less developed countries where they had to pay for there children s schooling that even from 3 years old they are taught English. It wont be long before the barrier is broken

Its not just China but a mass of countries that are now being educated where education has been restricted. The flow of knowledge is being released and its lifestyles and attitudes and everything else you can think of is going to be revealed all over the world. The amount of people that will be accessing the internet in a short amount of time will be too much for the governments to control on what stays and what leaves the country. If they can suppress the influx now with bylaws it will make all this easier for them. What they haven't banked on is over a billion new users each year worldwide to begin to mess with a computer. How many will have the same urge as us and so it grows but like the Chinese already realize, it better in numbers.
