Installing Windows Problems

Post by marshey »

Im currently using windows Vista and am trying to install windows 2000 pro on a new partition. I have put windows 2000 on a disc and then i changed my boot order to disc drive first then when i restarted my PC it started loading setup for it wen it started loading all the drivers for the windows 2000 setup it changed to a blue screen with a message sayin "The ACPI BIOS in this system is not fully complient with the ACPI specification, Please contact your vendor for a new BIOS update or go to www.hardware-update.com." i tried going onto that site but it didnt work so can anyone else suggest what i should do please. Thanks

well, you need to go to the mainboard manufacturer's site and look for newer BIOS versions there...but it's not sure that the BIOS is really the cause, what is the STOP code which is displayed when getting the bluescreen?

RESOLUTION
Manually install the Standard PC hardware abstraction layer (HAL):
1. Reboot the computer to restart Setup.
2. When Setup starts again, press F7 when you see the "Press F6 if you need to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver" screen.
Windows automatically disables the installation of the ACPI HAL and installs the Standard PC HAL.
try this....
