Posting for a friend>
i bought a wifi usb dongle an i want to set it up to share internet @ work ( i have the admin pass) i've installed it an i can see an use the other wifi nets around but i dont want that i want to share the comp internet with my phone an other laptops around the office .


how can i do this ???

first like all computers on a network they have to be network capable, windows machines allow you to easily set this up using a wizard, second the host network i do believe has to be setup to allow your computer onto it, if your able to connect to your network at work, make sure that file sharing is enabled for the computers youll be using, workgroups, and domains must match with your networks

yep. and to keep others away from accessing your network/AP simply use encryption, best WPA/WPA2 if available...else use WEP. simply use the software that came with the dongle to enable encryption...in some cases (Netgear for example) it's even possible to hide the network via the software settings.
