partitioning issues

hello, i've been trying to change my OS from VISTA to linux, but to do so i had to partition my HDD, so when i did, everytime i boot my comp up it gives a screen similler to DOS but wont let me type anything. i know the original files and partition arnt lost, but i cant seem to be able to access any of my documents or anything. any help will be grateful

Does the screen say anything at all?

What exactly did you do when you partitioned?

hm, MBR damaged maybe? :-k
have you Linux installed already? if not do so, the Linux bootloader SHOULD recognize Vista too so you should be able to boot it again, and even if not you can access nfts partitions with it by using ntfs-3g (comes with the default install of many distros already, can be also easily installed).

but yeah, first let us know what the error message says, because my suggestion above is just a guess.... :wink:

are you able to load the bios?

if so check your settings there
