Re: Using TV screen as a computer desktop
specs look really good....
I think it's a good buy, the features are even better than the ones of the WD player...and Seagate is known for good quality, it's my #1 HDD supplier...

Re: Using TV screen as a computer desktop
Well, I searched a lot, and bought ASUS Media player...
Its only for $77. Quality is good, very silent too...
NO WD Player was available, I searched entire city, only iomega, seagate and asus were there. Seagate was a bit high, iomega was with internal HDD n i dun needed dat. And asus is not that bad, only thing is, its a bit slow. Rest is fine

Re: Using TV screen as a computer desktop
never heard of the Asus one, maybe you can post some pics of your media setup...
and it don't really matter if it's a bit slow, usually you know what you want to watch anyway, so there's not much browsing around...

Re: Using TV screen as a computer desktop
Yup, will post tomorrow. Gonna watch some HD movie now,
ASUS is slow, in a way that is, its slow in main menu function. Main menu is designed like a kiddish though, . Rest everything is excellent.
Very silent (no fan (?)), no heating...
I think, I got good deal for low amount...
One shopkeeper tried to fool me. He said he had WD media player, and its cost was only $57, then I realized, it was WD mini media player, it plays only DVD movies,
But, I had to buy HDMI cable separately.

Here is my ASUS player.
Placement is quite unusual, due to lack of space, but still, I managed it very well.

Re: Using TV screen as a computer desktop
good to see you got a decent HDMI cable...
I am sure you will have a lot of fun with the player, best look around for bigger external HDDs already, it's astonishing how fast they fill up when you can watch movies on the big screen....
oh, and maybe you should remove the transport protection foil from the TV and the player?
P.S. I have edited your post and uploaded the pics to our own image host...

Re: Using TV screen as a computer desktop
LOLzzz.. Yea, ill remove that foil. Its a false tradition in the country I live in. They say, u shudn't remove it, for at least a year or so, coz if it gets damaged or corrupted, its easy 2 replace as it looks like a new one,
It sucks though, customers have no value here. Only money matters. Customer satisfaction is 0%.
I have 2 1 TB + 1 500 GB, so its enough, n i dun get time 2 watch movies. Its sunday 2day, so watched 1 movie.
I watch only two and a half men, or so... Just 30 mins a day,
