my swedish netbook - YAY!

Post by bad_brain »

today the postman woke me up, and much earlier than expected the package from cats was delivered, I bought his netbook, it's a Toshiba NB200 10G....and I really love it... :D

they keyboard has a swedish layout, but luckily only Y and Z are exchanged (like in the US layout), and instead of the Ü there is a Å...so it'll be easy to get familiar with it...

If it ever bothers you, redefining keys is a fairly simple endeavor using xmodmap

good idea....because I am not sure how long cats will accept a "zatta" instead of a "yatta"...
really odd to see how just 2 keys make it hard to type fluently...

before discovering xmodmap I redefined a key file using showkey/dumpkeys and loadkeys... the same way those "special" keyboard buttons are activated. For changing just a small number of key definitions though, xmodmap is a lot faster. and a lot easier.

For example, i wrap

Code: Select all

xmodmap -e "remove lock = Caps_Lock"
in a shell script to disable my caps lock key at boot.

Since I now have some money on paypal after b_b buying the netbook, I decided to buy some stuff from deal-extreme :)

Wii remote that I can use with the Dolphin emulator on my laptop

Code: Select all

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/designer-s-wii-remote-and-nunchuk-28576
And an adapter for using Nintendo 64 controllers on the laptop as well :D (I have turned it into somewhat of a gaming machine now, and it's my working computer lol)

Code: Select all

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/n64-dual-controller-gamepad-to-usb-adapter-30473
I'll post some results later when I get the stuff, to show how it works when playing the good old stuff on a laptop :)
