Antenna pinout on BCM2042KFBG P13?

Post by Shimo »

Soooooo.... I'm attempting to find the pinout spot for the antenna on the BCM2042KFBG P13 bluetooth/flash chip. For the life of me I can't spot it, link below is of the part.

I recently purchased a mini bluetooth keyboard for use with my phone and computer. However I've been very disappointed in the range of the device. It get 3 feet at best. At worst 1. I popped it open exspecting to see one of those tiny short wire antennas but to my dismay I noticed it didn't even have that. So now I plan on soldering in a new antenna. Also heres a pdf pinout guide. http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet- ... M2042.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Normally this would be a simple task for me, but for some reason this is just melting my brain. I mean I opened up my xperia x10 and added a bluetooth and wifi antenna to that, this should be easy.... I'm just so embarrassed having to ask this......

Good luck! The IC in question has no public data sheet, so finding the pin out will be difficult.

Code: Select all

• Transmitter provides +4 dBm output power and satisfies Class
2 operation
Also note that an antenna is not going to make the device transmit / receive better i.e. longer communications. The chip you are talking about more than likely has an integrated antenna.

Now I was able to dig this up for you. Perhaps it can help. http://www.keyglove.net/2011/03/15/inte ... id-module/

Thanks flood hound. It looks like I could just wire off of pins 1 and 3 on the isp port... http://www.keyglove.net/wp-content/uplo ... ematic.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Sound right.

No pins 1 and 3 are ground pins. Like I mentioned I don't think there is an external antenna for this device because It has an internal antenna. Now I could be entirely wrong but that would be my best guess since this IC has no public data sheet.
