New processor and gfx card

Post by OUTLAW3D »

Ok, right now my computer has an AMD Sempron 3200+ processor I believe and an nVidia 6500 gfx card I think (too lazy to see what it really is right now). I want a new processor and gfx card and I'm on a kinda low budget so I found these two things for around $170. Is this a good deal?

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz / 1MB Cache / 1000MHz (2000 MT/s) FSB / Toledo / Dual-Core / OEM / Socket 939 / Processor

GFX Card: Diamond Radeon X1550 Pro / 256MB GDDR2 / PCI Express / DL DVI / VGA / HDTV / CrossFire Ready / Video Card

And would these be compatible with both Linux and Windows?

I dont see any drivers for the gfx
here is the ati link http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

any cpu should work, that doesent matter if its 32bit or 64bit
on a 64bit cpu you can run a 32bit os with no probs etc..

this is a good card and should work http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121056
its a good gfx

well, Radeon cards usually work fine on Linux, at least for me on my Debian box.
but I have to admit nvidia drivers are easier to install than ATI ones, at least if you need full 3D acceleration for gaming....

Alright thanks guys. I'll be ordering in a few days I guess but in the mean time I'll still search and maybe I can find some other things but I think what I have chosen will be just fine.
