Hello,
so one of my friend bought extra ram for his pc he replaced it and started the computer but when he does before reaching window login page it restarts itself at first i thought the ram was corrupted so i asked him to remove it and put in the old one but got the same result no matter what i did results were same so after getting frustrating outcome i created this thread well then any idea ?
Information:
OS: window xp
ram: DDR 2
EDIT:it wont even boot in safe mode and i tried to load the default bios setting but no luck.

If it worked fine before changing the memory check the connection on the board to make sure all pins are making a good connection.
Second remove the splash screen from the bios when starting that way you can see what is going on as it starts a lot of mother boards will show errors while going through self check.

There was a defect in OS after running recovery disk it found some error and now it perfectly works fine.

Insert XP disc and boot from cd
hit any key to boot from CD
Select Repair
When You see the prompt for installation type 1
if you type help you will get a list of commands you should familiar yourself with
type fixboot
ext
restart and see if this corrects the error.
If this fails run the same procedure but type fixmbr
This should correct any boot up problems for XP

yea with windows, if it keeps failing to load the OS, you have no choice but to insert the OS disk to boot from. Restore does not help if the OS is fuxored.
