it's mostly used on *nix servers but there is also a Windows installer available, simple check in additional downloads>binaries.
make sure to subscribe to the user list to get informed about rule updates, and don't worry, you don't have to pay for anything....the free rulesets are the same as the commercial ones, they are only available 5 days later..
