Playing WMA?

Post by ayu »

Ok so there is this radio channel that i want to listen on through my browser, it tells me to download some plugin, it starts searching and ends up with nothing. The file type when you hold the mouse over the radio link is "WMA" (i'm using iceweasel).

Any suggestions? =]

you will not find an official plugin (at least not in the stable repositories) for playing windows media files on Linux, but here's a tutorial:
http://www.debiantutorials.org/content/view/18/237/

if you want to use the plugin from the unstable repositories you need this one:
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/web/totem-mozilla
you have to edit /etc/apt/sources.list and add unstable to the links...
WARNING!
after editing sources.list only run apt-get update and install the package you need then, do NOT run apt-get upgrade, else you will upgrade your whole system to unstable!! once install is done remove the unstable entries in sources.list again and run apt-get update again...
