Ok so i am going to buy a new HDD for my server and I want all my media to be there.
And I want like a streaming server of some sort, so that I can access all the files through there and watch them through the browser. Like a web manage server where I can see all the files in specified folders, and play them in the browser (Note: I need the software to be *nix compatible)
Any ideas?

oh, nice....my next job is setting up an internet TV station where files and live transmissions will be streamed.
I first tried Feng, it works but it's a little pain in the rear to setup (because of the libglib library): http://live.polito.it/documentation/feng
right now I am about to test Flumotion, which seems to be more promising and easier to setup (but no guarantee for that):
http://www.flumotion.net/
to display the streams via http you have to use the Cortado applet which is available on the same site.
