New Lappy drivers

Post by Shimo »

Ok so I have the Acer Extensa 5620Z Dual booting Vista and Suse 11 I am very pleased with the compatibility of the computer with suse out of the box... The only thing that didn't work and I'm having one hell of a time finding drivers for is the s video out. My chip set is Intel 965 GM.. I know its not hard ware as it works under Vista. Any ideas for drivers guys?

The svideo might need setting up in the properties.

Goto display properties and goto settings.

From there goto number 2 then right on and click on attach and apply.

now drag the programs to screen to which is your tv and resize as needed.

Good luck

Thats the problem though.... My settings don't pick it up. I've gotten my vga output working great but I don't wanna have to go out and get a vga to svideo or those nasty quarter inch jacks in the back. Oh well when I do public demos I might wind up stuck with Vista.

Hmm well that gave me better drivers for my vga out but my s video out remains not picked up. I read some where that s video out is often neglected by linux programmers due to the poor quality compared to the vga out. So maybe there just isn't a driver for mine yet. Although after reading a lot I think I might get a vga to s video cable. Better quality supposedly. And then I can use it on almost any computer. Save for some older lappys

hm, yeah, s-video output supplies the 2nd worst quality, only "component out" is worse... :? nowadays DVI is almost standard already.
so using a s-video -> vga converter cable might really be the best solution...
