IC pins? Does it matter? [LM3914N]

Post by Uner »

Hey guys.

Just a really quick question...
I have been messing around with circuits, but I have never used a IC before. So, I got a scheme with a IC, and the pins are numbered from 1 to 18. On the IC itself tho, pins aren't indicated. I guess that means that the way I put the IC on my PCB is irrelevant, right?

Thanks,
Uner

EDIT:
I guess the answer was hard to find because the question was just too retarded. For those who are wondering...
IC pins are numbered anti-clockwise around the IC starting near the notch or dot.

No most all ICs have a pin 1 and all other pins are counted off that one in a counterclockwise fashion.

Pin 1 on this TO220 package is far left 2 middle and 3 far right.

This is similar to your device and Pin1 is the one next to the dot. Page 22 of the data sheet shows where pin1 is located take a look

Hope this helps

EDITED sorry I got to this late looks like you got it. Look at the data sheet anyways if you need more information.
