use the guttman method of shredding. files are beyond recovery after doing a shred with the guttman method(35 passes of random data written).

there are many software today that can provide such a task
some of them are
-evidence nuker
-tune-up shredder
-ccleaner
etc etc...

that will do the trick
you do not need c4, semtex, acid, electromagnet, magnetron, etc., to wipe out your files
i recommend evidence nuker and ccleaner

I agree Pong - but Cats specified something very quick - Wipe the HDD in one minute.
How long would 35 passes by guttman take? Other wipers like Kremlin will take at least four minutes to do a triple pass on a 60gb HDD ( could be longer!)

Yea, that crazy guy. Cats can be pretty unreasonable at times. [-(

1 minute huh? i'd say soak it in sulfuric acid or something more corrosive maybe in a volcano lava or magma. that sure will destroy the hdd forever and it wud only take seconds not a minute if you throw it in lava or magma. hehehehe. :D
