how to dl movies and burn them

Post by Kirk »

So after being away for 10 years I really wanted to watch some movies. Well, I have no money so the theater is out. Movie rental stores, but even they cost. To tell you the truth, I dont want to pay any money to watch a movie. And I don't. Not that I have a lot of time to watch them though. Here's how I get all my movies. Including one still in the theaters.

First you will need to get a converter. The files you will be downloading will almost always be in .avi format. You can't simply burn this to a DVD and expect it to play on a DVD player. Go 'buy' yourself a copy of Convertxtodvd. Fantastic program.

Now that you have your file converter you will need a way to download the movie files. I use uTorrent. Not the best program in the world because of trackers, but really, who care. We are not hacking the Pentagon we are downloading a movie.

There are many. many sites you can go to for the movies themselves. Simple google 'torrent'. I have my two favorite sites but am not sure if B_B would allow me to link you all to them.

When you get to the torrent site there are a few things you will need to know. The term 'seed' means how many people are sharing the file. 'leech' are those that are downloading it. The higher the number in the seed area the better.

Now, there are many different types of pirated movies. In the title of the movie look for these terms:
CAM: this is a camera in the theater and usually sucks. only get this if you really want to see the movie right then and cant wait.
TS: Telesync- this is usually a better camera job because the camera is synced with the projector for the sound.
DVDrip: Hands down the best. This will be an actual DVD copy of the movie with DVD quality.
These are the main three to look for.

The audio and video are both rated on a 1 - 10 scale with 10 being the best.

You now have your uTorrent and convertxtodvd programs. You have downloaded a video file using uTorrent and now want to burn it to DVD for your buddy. Simply open Convertxtodvd, go to file, open, and find the movie file you want to convert and burn. Open it. Place a blank DVD in your DVD tray and hit convert.

There you go. you now have your own copy of any movie out there. ConvertxtoDVD is a great program and has many rich features so dont be afraid to play with it. When I have more time I'll write a tut just on ConvertxtoDVD and all its options.

When you are looking for movies I will recommend Jaybob and sycretmyth as ones to look for. Both very good and trusted.

good one Kirk... :D
and you can post links to torrent sites, only not links to torrents...

I wanted to add an app I really like, DVD Flick. it's a really nice and free DVD authoring tool, you can take movies in .avi, .wmv or whatever format and turn them into a regular DVD with menus, playable on a regular DVD home player.
for me it was even the only app that was able to convert .wmv movies in 800x450 screen resolution in a way to make them watchable on my TV via HDD media player. I tried TMGEnc first (which is a really good video converter), but no matter what format I tried there was always an annoyance like no sound, messed up resolution, etc., but DVD Flick did it without any problem...and it is even very easy to use.

enjoy... :)

ConvertxtoDVD does the same thing as DVD Flick. It makes the file playable on your average DVD player for the home. It creates the root menu automatically and scene selection. It has a huge amount of options though. I will start writing a tut on it and post it when it is done. I love the program.

For those of you now wanting to google for torrent sites here are my favorites:

oh, and here is my favorite torrent site btw:
http://btjunkie.org/
this one is a pretty good search site:
http://torrentscan.com/

but actually I avoid torrents whenever I can, it's too public to download stuff that way, always good to use something like Peer Guardian then:

Another easy way to watch movies on your computer is to visit the site:

Code: Select all

http://globolister.com/
Just type in the movie you want to see (or tv show!) and click on "Search Nabosearch"

and pick your poison... ^_^
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

Nice tut Kirk, well written and very well presented.

Thanks for the link Gogeta, its the best one for finding online movies i have seen so far.

I use a site called
for my torrents but it is invite only and i have no invites left. I shall post here when i get some more or when they open registration next time for anyone who would like to join.
