P3 is good enough, I run it even on a P2, only RAM shouldn´t be too small (384mb here, works fine, only graphical installer isn´t working because it demands 400mb at least  )
I use a Linux box for it, but I´m pretty sure it´s no problem to integrate Solaris in an multi-OS environment with XP too. all you need is about 10GB space (standard install is 7.6GB, it´s that big because it allocates free space to the services).
check your PMs...

solaris is cool

I used to build rackmounts for a computer company. We built mil-spec boxes. U2's to U4's, with stuff bolted down and wires tied up, it didn't make noise and withstood a 3ft drop to cement 8O

Solaris was the popular OS, they believed it was a more reliable OS than windoze.

8O um, if you have a spare one in your cellar send it to me DNR...

Solaris seems to be nice and stable, only the xfce desktop is a little strange when you use it for the first time, also the devicenames are different from Linux....so it needs a little to get onto it. I tried to establish a multi-OS system with Solaris and Debian, but Solaris wasn´t recognized by Grub or Lilo, I have to do a new setup anyway and will install Debian first this time....maybe it'll work in this order...
