Alternative to win 7 backup tool

Hi,

I get this error when using the built in back up tool http://i.imgur.com/w6qea.png
Running CHKDSK doesn't seem to have any effect at all. And this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/For ... abc158e752 doesn't fill me with much hope.

So what is a good back up utility? I've had Cobian and Allway Sync mentioned. What are your opinions on them ? Also is there a program that creates a disk image and then lets you restore to it (like the win 7 backup program).

I use cdrivebackup, it's a specialized Linux distro, pretty straight forward and easy to use:
