7zip can't open split rars but winRAR can

Hi,

I've noticed that if I use 7zip to open split rars it returns the error message "file is broken"
but if I use winRAR it works fine. Any idea why this would be? And no I'm not checking the "fix broken file option" in winRAR. It doesn't work even if I chose a different file to begin the extraction.

It's a pain more than anything because I hate having to use winRAR at all.

OS: Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit
7zip: 64 Bit, version 9.20

hm, I am using 7zip since years already and never had such a problem. how are you unpacking the parts? are you highlighting all of them or simply unpack the first part?

Yeah I click on an individual file and then hit extract. I think it's worked with the other method you mentioned but it still gave the broken file message. At least this time it extracted something .

WinRar is a commercial application and it could be that you're encoding the file with a new version of the algorithm that other clients haven't caught up to yet. Try making it in an older version of WinRar or another program. I've experienced similar problems and this fixed 'em.
