No more Process Manager Windows 7

Post by maboroshi »

Not sure what happened, windows update? Bug? Adobe Garbage? But pressing control alt delete in windows 7 no longer brings up a task manager option.

Anyone have any ideas?

Try CTRL + SHIFT + ESC

or use Process Explorer and enable the "replace task manager" option and see if that fixes it.

Use onscreen keyboard and check the key is actually functional - The onscreen highlights keys pressed down

Sometimes applications like VmWare hijack keys such as Winkey so my guess is it might be similar problem

Well I can confirm it was not a bug in a windows patch. The keys were not taken over. Pressing CTRL, ALT, DEL in Windows 7 takes you to a window allowing you to switch users, log out, etc. Everything was still there. Opening task manager was no longer present. When my network started lagging a bit I felt maybe I should do a fresh install. I believe something was trying to encrypt my hard drive ... So fresh install and current updates and Task Manager is still present.

Anyway all is good :-)
