I am looking for a laptop to purchase for someone and am looking at some pointers on where to go on good prices. I am looking for something that has USB3 and firewire connections. It is to run 2

My Dell ispiron dual core Intel - was $499. Comes with 3 USB ports, 1 RJ45.
You should be able to spec out the HDD and memory to adjust the price.
Getting up to the $1,000 laptop - thats where I saw firewire.
Not sure what francises compete in your country, but Best Buy beat out all the other shops at the time for pricing. Don't forget mail-in mfr rebates - those are $100 off sometimes.

My Macbook pro was only a cheap 2100 dollars, it has 2 usb ports... But at least I can sit in a coffee shop and sip my chai soy latte and talk about how great my mac is

Costco has some good deals I got an ACER quad core with 6 gig DDR3 ram for $600. Not a bad deal but the mouse pad sucks - not gonna lie!
