White hat is simply a hacker with ethics.
Most professional computer people, with the unique personality, are called hackers. the unique personality makes the educated computer person work harder, more intuitive, and adapt easily between hardware platforms and devices. Since these people spend much time studying, using, and even spending social time on computers - they can be considered antisocial.
Black hats are simply criminals, they break the laws in many countries to take information on people's identities, money, and time. Most of the things they do are of negative consequence, they produce nothing, they take.
The need to 'be' a hacker is really a need to be yourself. Stop trying to fit in to mainstream public, blindly following governmental and corporate media mindwash.
The answer to your existance is in the machines.
