hehe....DNR, we have the same roots...^_^
as a kid I listened to Kiss, AC/DC, Judas Priest and stuff like that...then I discovered an album named "In god we trust Inc." by Dead Kennedys, I kinda liked the album design (Jesus on a cross made of dollar bills), so I just bought it without listening to it first. when I first listened to the album at home I was thinking "huh? must be a mistake, this is no maxi-single for 45rpm, it must be a LP for 33rpm" because they played so damn fast...
after listening to it a couple of times (on 45rpm of course ) I began to really like it and my love for punk music was born.. luckily I was able to retrieve a lot of the old records I had on CD (duh, I sold all my LPs when I got my first CD player ), but I would even pay some money if anyone could retrieve the album "Monstren, Mumien, Mutationen" from a german punk group called "SS Ultrabrutal".... anyway, maybe we can share some mp3s DNR....
ilkjester, I don't discriminate too (ok, I DO hate stuff that is only designed to sell, sell, sell, like Britney Spears and all the clones of her, same for this boygroup crap). rap is ok for me, I like the old school stuff and also some of the older Master P releases, but well, in germany you usually only et the real commercial stuff....an US import CD cost here sometimes more than 50 euro...

hip hop and rap started out pretty good, I like it when RUN/DMC hit the airwaves, then came the Beastie Boys and even Ice-T or Sir Mix A Lot "tessarosa".

You are wrong, f*cked and over rated. I think I'm gonna be sick and it's your fault.

Run DMC and ice-T “colors” & “new jack hustler” I remember but what about the Beastie Boys? Yeah! I love all types of music and can tear it up on my mountain bike listing to some Sex Pistols or some ole Rock and Roll. I have around 400 albums every thing from Hip Hop to jazz to Punk!! Most converted to mp3

Alright, I've been lurking on this thread for a while and enough is enough (procrastinating that is). Here's what I have on my iPod (I don't think everything is ripped to mp3 on my Hard Drive) in alpabetical order.
-Audioslave (Both albums)
-*Cake (Discography)
-Chevelle (This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In & Wonder What's Next)
-Coldplay (X&Y)
-Collective Soul (Collective Soul [Self titled album])
-Deftones (Discography )
-Finger Eleven (Finger Eleven [Self-Titled])
-Foo Fighters (In Your Honor [Disc 1 only, somehow I didn't get the
second disc])
-Hot Hot Heat (Elevator)
-*Incubus (Discography)
-Jack Johnson (Discography)
-The Killers (Hot Fuss)
-Lewis Black (Carnegie Hall Performance & The White Album [He's a comedian if you didn't know and one of my favorties]
-Lostprophets (Start Something)
-*Muse (Absolution & Black Holes and Revelations [That's 2 albums not 3]
-Mushroomhead (Discography)
-Nirvana (Nevermind)
-Ok Go (Oh No & Ok Go) - They have a great homemade music video on treadmills that's what got me to like them.
-Pimsleur (German I, sadly, I couldn't motivate my lazy ass to finish it...)
-Puddle of Mudd (Come Clean)
-Rage Against the Machine (Discography) - Got me into guitar, sadly I quit....I hate sheet music as a result
-Red Hot Chili Peppers (Blood Suger Sex Magick; Californication; Stadium Arcadium) eventually I'll get all the records
-Richard Cheese (Discography ) For thoes that don't know he does popular songs and puts them to Frank Sinatra-type music
-Robin Williams (Reality...What A Concept)
-*Sevendust (Discography) One of my favorites
-Smile Empty Soul (Self-Titled)
-The Strokes (Room On Fire)
-Tenacious D (Self-Titled) 1337 sauce
-Three Days Grace (One-X) If you bought the album I feel sorry for you....this one sucks....while I'm at it I should delete this one off my computer and iPod. Pinnacle of mediocracy.
-Weezer (Weezer [Green Album]) I like 'Hash Pipe'
So there you have it.
* denotes what I'm listening to the most at the moment (subject to change, but I probably won't update)

Yea, they're pretty good. I preferr Corey Taylor's work in SlipKnoT, but in Stone Sour Corey shows more of his vocal range. Have you heard Stone Sour's Kill Everybody?gogeta70 wrote:Anyone here like Stone Sour? The lead singer is from Slipknot...

Sir Mix A Lot sucks, the Beastie boys have 1 good song, Ice-T kicks ass but Run DMC whoop ass. There's still some decent Rap/Hip-Hop, but it's all being exploited. In the '80's it was Metal being watered down, in the '90's it was Alternative and I don't think Gangsta Rap wasn't un-tainted. Now it's all "LOL! I'm rich fool! Ganksta bitch! I got da hoes and shiny shit! LOOOL! You all sux!".DNR wrote:hip hop and rap started out pretty good, I like it when RUN/DMC hit the airwaves, then came the Beastie Boys and even Ice-T or Sir Mix A Lot "tessarosa".
