application to monitor internet connections

Post by Kirk »

I am looking for a good application to monitor the connections the software on my computer is trying to make to the internet. I need to be able to block those connections if i want.

Im also looking for an application that will help me create an auto-run for an application. so, say I have a ms office download and i want to make it so when i put the disk in it automatically starts the install.

any ideas?

Kirk

Networx.
But you won't be able to block the connections. You can monitor speed and usage of the Internet connections that are plugged into your computer.

You can also try Connection Monitor.

im looking for something that will allow me to see what applications are running, what port they are trying to connect though, give me the ability to block that application. Im not worried about how much resources they are using or what the connection speed is. I just need to block an application that tries to connect to the internet during the install for verification, a call-home type of thing.

Thank you for the two applications. I will download them now and see if they will work.

**edit**
The most important is the application to help me create autorun disk.

check this one:
http://autorun.moonvalley.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

but of course it will only work if autoplay for removeable drives is not disabled in the OS...;)

under windows TCPviewer is good to monitor the connections established by the process on your machine, but i don't think it can block the connection....
however editing the firewall rules should help.

You can also use Process Explorer which you can also set to use instead of task manager too :wink:
