I refer to this as the "lock knocker" since you don't really pick it, more like brute force it, anyway.

Get a pop can, cut a strip out bout a inch tall and maybe the width of your pinky nail, maybe a little thinner. pull at the lock to give you a little slack Line the piece of pop can up with the side of the lock that slides down into the lock and push down hard on the lock loop *i found it best to clinch it in your fist, has more force* open your fist and viola, it's unlocked.
Tried and true for master locks.
