Down with Search Engines [Government new laws]

Post by maboroshi »

So effective very soon, Google and all other search engines will be forced to data mine your search queries as per laws in place by US congress. The data they will be forced to collect is extensive, and the information about you they can surmise from this is unfathomable

I refuse to be a part of this and highly recommend using YACY

Code: Select all

http://yacy.net
Yacy is a distributed peer 2 peer search engine. Again I highly recommend using YaCy.

(This is not a paranoid rant)

*cheers

Mabo

So this applies only to the US, right?

I know this is in the UK too, not sure about other countries but they will all follow suit. The information here is to be stored from the ISP for up to 12 months and can be requ7ested for that information by the authorities at any time.

Good find Mabs

Our countries don't give a shit either, they just haven't realized this yet.

P2P search sounds good. Google makes us too sensitive, all info stored in one place. Less chance of being falsely accused of being a terrorist if they can't see what you search for...

Decentralized solutions are so epic. 8)

It's not nation specific, it's about search engine... well really anyone who owns infrastructure in the US. They have to keep logs of all traffic, and what-not, to be available for federal inquiry. It was part of the child protection law that passed last month H.R. 1981 I think it was, may have been H.R.1891

I don't know what's worse, child abuse or abusing child protection. What's next? 24/7 video and audio surveillance of every single person on the planet as another part of child protection? And of course anyone who's against such draconian laws would be considered a pedophile supporter.
The power-obsessed people at high functions are milking child abuse hard.

I tried this search engine today, but the search results are kind of confusing.
For example when I search for a pretty popular website in my country, I got an image that was posted on it as a first result, and the main page didn't come until a few pages back.

I guess it's because it's not as used as Google, and thus not very correct results.

Things like "star wars kid" gives very random results, while on Google it gives the expected "star wars kid" on Youtube.
I think I will stay with Google for a while longer, but at the same time I will demo the other search engine and see if I can get used to it, or maybe if it gets better.

everyone (general public) that google is the only game in town.

I still use Copernic Agent - combined search engines

Google is reducing 'google dorks' and even redacting good shit from the 'net. What ever country - google will do it there too as a general company policy. Then add - they will track user searchs - IPs+search terms. Fuck that.

Other search engines are still rich in dorks and nfo
try this old link - http://c0vertl.tripod.com/search.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (old I know)

I remember this a while back before. Thanks mabo. Google is finished, they tried to stop the government and were successful for a short time but obviously not completely. It's like what they did to megaupload there doing to google. Then they wonder why particular sites are being hacked? Use this search engine.
