System Specs: Here and here.
For a while now my computer has been crashing on a regular basis. As you can imagine this is very annoying. It's a custom build barely 2 years old. I used to get BSODs, but I thought it was triggered by Win-amp. So I stopped using it.
Here's the BSOD
I googled the BSOD code and found this thread.
I followed the advice and ran memtest but it said there were no errors.
Since I stopped using WinAmp, I just get regular crashes instead of BSODs. A minor improvement.
So what would your advice be? Is it a hardware issue? Does windows write the error to a file before it crashes? Are my drivers out of date?

Re: Computer keeps crashing
Well if it simply crashes then I suspect the power supply is going out. You might want to replace it with a known good PS and see if it solves the problem.
In my 30 years of computer experience it seems that the PS is most often the cause a sudden crash.
The PS is the work horse on a computer. Please take my advice at your own risk as its only advice. Good luck

Thinking more on this there is Card Creep issues that can easily be checked as well.

Re: Computer keeps crashing
how old is the OS install? I had multiple BSOD problems already with my system...and they were ALWAYS caused by some shitty software. I am also running win7 64bit and use the same software I had on XP where I had absolutely no problems....so it's a win7 (64bit?) thingy imo.
Re: Computer keeps crashing
Generally, a 0x000000f4 STOP error is caused by corrupted windows sytem files. Try restoring your system for an earlier point before it was crashing (i hope you make system-restore points at least once a month ^_^), or reinstall windows. You could also try figuring out which system files are damaged - though we'll need more information before trying to do that.

Usually the cause of BSOD is Windows.
You should get Linux : )

About 1 and a half years. I remember someone on here saying that they format their XP install every couple of years because it slows down the computer so much.bad_brain wrote:how old is the OS install?
Maybe it is shitty software...uninstalling triliian!
@ Gogeta Thank you for posting those links. I'll use the repair tool and report back.
EDIT: Weird it says in the sidebar it is compatible with windows 7, but when I run the tool "ErrorEND is not compatible with windows 7".
And no I don't create restore points But I seem to remember when you put it in a win 7 installation disk there's an option to repair the install so I guess I can try that....

I want to dual boot but I'm paranoid Gparted will wreck my windows partition. Every time I've practised on memory sticks it's failed. So I settled for an "inside install". I'll use it and see if that crashes.
