k, done so far. problems were caused by a component update which seems to be buggy, will wait until it's known to work stable. luckily the update is just a feature one and not a security one. all other updates worked fine.
the problem of the "disappearing forum" was caused by the rollback I did when DNR told me about the login errors after the updates.....after flushing the cache manually it went back to normal.
