Building e-commerce website

Post by z3r0aCc3Ss »

I am put on a new project now. I have to build an e-commerce website for my company.
I have no clue on how to proceed, what technologies I need, and so on...
Website that I will create will look like ebay, quikr and olx.in.
It's a very big project.
Please help me on this issue. Give you ideas and thoughts. Anything positive is appreciated.

hm, have a look at Magento, one of my customers is running a site with some 10.000 objects on it. of course you will need a decent server for a big site because the database- and CPU activity is no picnic:
http://www.magentocommerce.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Any other solution than magento?
Any paid solution? Any paid framework which is ready to use, and we just customize it as per our own needs?

Specifically, my ultimate goal is to create C2C website, like Quickr, or eBay.

hm, if it's for auctions have a look at webid:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/simpleauction/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

if you are looking for shop AND auction functionality I doubt there is a single solution, you would have to use 2 separate platforms and connect them via the same theme and subdomains for example. I can not recommend a commercial platform because I have never used one, also my customers all use magento... :-k
