I used to have Acrophobia, but when I went on a cross-country trip to the Badlands I realized I'm not terrified of heights like I used to be.

Acrophobia...I experienced it once when I was doing my apprenticeship as auto-mechanic (yep, been a while  )....had to climb on a huge ladder to replace the letters for the gas prices. it was pretty windy, and that whole pole was swinging back and forth. was kinda funny because that feeling got worse with every step I climbed up. in the end someone else had to do it.
for some odd reason I have no problems standing on the roof of a tall building and looking down.... :-k

I have a bit of Arachnephobia and Spheksophobia.
Although not even close to what I used to have.

I wouldn't want to name it anything but if I have to then I have slight Aviophobia, because I really don't want to sit on a plane.
I have this need to be on the ground (I disslike boats as well).

But I wouldn't say that it's a phobia really, since I go by plane often with my wife, and I don't complain much when we have to go by boat.
But I avoid it if I can ^^

is using lame excuses for not having to agree on a friend's multiple invites to finally join him on a tandem paragliding flight like I always do already count as aviophobia (if yes then I have it) or does it simply go as "common sense"?

Oh I DO have a problem with that! Also with standing at the top of several flights of stairs and looking down the stairwell. 8-[

I would say I probably have a good dose of social phobia in general, but they did forget a relatively new one, socmephobia. That is the fear of social media. Facebookophobia anyone?
