Bypassing Facebook/Twitter Phone Verification

Post by computathug »

Twitter has recently come under fire and it has lost 19% of its monthly sign up rate due to now having restrictions on its users who try registering their accounts while using TOR.

If you are just using a browser and not using any proxy or VPN then there is no verification process and as i was setting up an account using both i soon bumped in to this problem so here is how i resolved the issue.

First of all you should already have TOR installed and i am using Mullvad VPN. Before starting you need to change the configuration settings which you can find in the torrc file, for the exit node to the US and set the VPN to use US servers.

Start Tor first and then your VPN once it has connected. You will need a email account so i used Yandex for this. Register the email account you wish to use using TOR browser.

Head over to twitter and and prepare your new account. If you are not using a VPN it might just bypass the verification page if you are lucky but if not all is not lost.

If it does ask for phone verification go to

Code: Select all

http://www.receive-sms-online.info/
and use one of the US numbers listed. I tried many other sites this way but it seemed twitter had blacklisted them. The number that worked for me was

Code: Select all

13234922399
and the confirmation code was there within a few minutes.

Input the activation code, head back to your email account you set up and verify the account through the email.

All done xD

Remember when you have set everything up to set the torrc file back to the default settings.

Enjoy.
