last week I had a bit of a maintenance spree on my main business server....before the syslog was about 45MB for a day with lots of warnings and some errors too.

go for it, it's a great way to learn!
and you should have seen my mail server one.....I had some typos in the signing table for DKIM (it was always the same typo, caused by copy&paste), so for about 50 mail accounts each outgoing message caused about 100 lines of errors and debug info...
was a fun thing to solve, because the errors were thrown by spamassassin, and NOT by opendkim...now syslog is down from 500MB/day to 15MB/day (which is normal because of all the MX activity logging).

start with either the most obvious and easiest ones, easiest are usually the ones in context with a service you know well already. or pick the one first that causes the most entries, solving those are very motivating...
