Cybiko Extreme Problems
I Was Just Wondering If Anyone Here Could Tell Me If My Cybiko Extreme Is Fixable Or If It's Gone For Good. The Problem With My Cybiko Extreme Is When I Go To Turn It On It See Nothing On The LCD. I Know It's Charged Because It Pluged It In And Charged It For 24 Hours. While The Cybiko Extreme Was Pluged In The Light Lit Up Red JFYI. Can My Cybiko Extreme Be Fixed Or Should I Trash It? well you have to consider, repair vs replacement and its value in your daily life.
For those that don't know what a cybiko is;
"Cybiko is a hand held computer designed for teenagers featuring it's own two-way radio text messaging system. It has over 430 "official" freeware games and applications. Because of the text messaging system, it features a QWERTY Keyboard that was used with a stylus. An MP3 player add-on was made for the unit as well as a SmartMedia card reader. The company stopped manufacturing the units after two product versions and only a few years on the market, but because of the unique radio messaging hardware there is still a hobbyist community using Cybiko.
Cybikos can communicate with each other up to a maximum range of 300 metres (0.19 miles) (which can be boosted to 450 metres (0.26 miles) using a freeware program called UI Power). Several Cybikos can chat with each other in a wireless chatroom.

Sounds like a treasure to keep, I even have old radar detectors from 1980's. I regret not keeping my C-64.
You do have the oportunity to open the case up and try to detect and fix the problem. Did it get cooked by direct sunlight on the LCD? You can try to find another broken cybiko and swap out parts, just like a 'puter.
