What's the next step

Post by Midnite »

I have obtained the username and e-mail of the person for a website, but now I need to figure out the pw. What's the next step I need to do to find out the pw? The lost password questions is what is his mother's maiden name. He's asian so it has to be something funky....

3. No explicit questions, such as 'can someone hack www.somesite.com' or 'how do i hack www.blah.com', etc. We are not here to do work for you, but to help you on your way to learn how to do it yourself. Nor do we support the defacing, or hacking of websites.

i am not going to lock it since ur a newbie in the forum read the rules

I'm not asking you guys to do anything, nor do I want to hack the site, I just want to figure out how to get the answer to the secret question.

Have you asked this "friend"?
That'd be the best way to find out, ya know...

Yup..just ask.

Just start a conversation about names or something lol.

I've gone into a few myspace accounts, easily. I would say that I'm ashamed of doing it..but I was bored out of my mind, and I didn't deface anything.
I would find a friend who used yahoo for their myspace..then start talking to them and get some info and then I had the password reset, and had myspace send the password to the email.

What I'm saying is that a simple conversation will do. Some can call such a thing Social Engineering.
