What error message do you get?

The server might be down, also check that your clock on the comp is correct, msn wont work if it isn't.

would you have any firewalls installed on your computer? I found that when you try to connect to the internet and you have a firewall installed, the firewall needs to recogonize the connection and open the required ports to allow the program through.

Check also you System date. I figured out that msn messenger verify that your system date and time are set at the current time... for protection I guess.

ewww......that's nasty....make sure to run full system scans with Ad-Aware and Spybot, just to make sure there isn't some spy-/adware left on your system:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad- ... rsonal.php

don't forget to update both programs first before running the scans...

i put it on one of my other pc's and it started deleting al my tools for a aio hack pack im making (it 'was' 2 gig til avg found the files for my pack that i was about to release it)

You can always use a linux distro to manually remove it. Or get a new IM client such as GAIM or Trillian.

right ebrizzles, but the question is what to remove?
I've used Norton for years (shame on me), and I really recommend to get rid of it, because it slows down your system really bad and deletes a lot of files without giving you the chance to keep them if you want to (even nmap is labeled as "virusname: hacktool" ).
my recommendation is to use Kaspersky, it simply rocks! combined with Ad-Aware and Spybot it'll protect your system really well....her you can get the trial versions:
