well,you can try to repair the system by installing XP again, it´s the same procedure like a normal installation, but when repairing only the system files are overwritten, the other data will not be deleted.

but when your system is infected the malware will most likely not be deleted too....so when the repair was successful scan your system immedeately!

Is to do what b_b just said:
Repair your windows installation.

Insert CD, and there should be a repair install option.

You can do the other good advice, and boot in Safe Mode and uninstall Diablo.
Did you check the specificatons before you installed Diablo? Does your hardware meet the specifications?
Did you have to reboot after the installing the expansion pack, and is this when the errors started?
