Make it a dynamic site, I find this to be the ones that keep my interest.

that's right, BUT it's a lot of work to populate a board and keep it running...it can take months until you see a success. and because the board will be empty at the beginning it's hard to convince people to sign up, you need downloads (for example) then....it's a little embarrassing, but for suck-o the "trojan" downloads attracted most of the users at the beginning (at least there was a remarkable increase of sign-ups after I uploaded them).

a good idea might be a blog site, blogs are also very popular and it's not that much work like a board site....and once you have a decent amount of visitors you can always add new features...
