Is it possible to obtain an ip, from somone in a chatroom? Like im talking to a person and i want to see their ip...Sorry guys aint mirc. (Its some gaming chat room)....Thx for the time...=)

well, depends on the chat protocol. enter the room, check your connections with netstat, talk to somebody and then check netstat again. if a new IP is on the list it´s probably the one of the person you were are talking to (but it could be the chat application´s server adress too, so do a lookup to be sure). if it´s possible to send files try it with the same method, in most cases a p2p connection is established when files are transmitted....

hmmm i tried the netstat command in a conv. over msn, and i was getting some pretty strange results. does anyone want to simplify the use of it? or any other ways to get ips over msn?

well, you can get the IP only by taking a look at the connections (like I said before, I´m not sure if it works for MSN), but a more comfortable way than to use netstat is TCPview, it´s basically the same as netstat but with a GUI and you can see by which application the connection was established, should be more easy to filter the right one.
you can get it in the networking stuff- or useful programs-section...

I believe msn gives you a server address more less then the user ip, i think if your talking to someone on msn.. you need to create a direct connection by this sending them a file and while dl it go use netstat in console
